What is Dry Needling ?

Dry Needling is a technique used reduce pain and improve movement caused by muscle tension and/or nerves. It involves the placement of a needle into a trigger point.

A trigger point is a point within the muscle that can be painful to touch and produce pain around the area. These trigger points may be too deep to be treated by other treatment methods and by using needles, the treatment is far less painful.

What can Dry Needling Help With?

  • Muscles tightness & Stiffness

  • Reduced mobility or movement restriction

  • Training-related soreness and fatigue

  • Headaches with neck and/or shoulder tension

  • Ongoing muscular issues that haven't responded fully to manual therapy alone

What to expect during a Session?

Dry needling sessions can be discussed and added to any standard session with an additional charge. The treatment itself is brief and targeted, focusing only on areas relevant to the area of concern. You may feel a short-lived twitch response, ache or pressure sensation - all of which are normal for this treatment.

After treatment, it's common to experience Post-Needling Soreness for up to 24-48 hours, similar to a post-exercise soreness. Movement, hydration and gentle activity are encouraged to support recovery.

Frequently Asked
Questions

Is dry needling considered safe?

Yes. When performed by a trained and qualified practitioner, dry needling is considered safe. All needles are sterile and single-use.

This varies from person to person. Some clients feel improvement after one session, while others benefit from multiple treatments over several sessions.

Does dry needling hurt?

Most people describe the sensation as uncomfortable rather than painful. Any discomfort is usually brief and settles quickly. Your comfort is always prioritised.
